Great Nepal! Beautiful Nepal! Hi Everybody! I am Sandeep Adhikari. I am a student of Kathmandu University. It is located in Dhulikhel, Kavre. I am here to speak about Nepal. Nepal is a small landlocked country sandwiched between India and China. Being situated between such giant countries, Nepal has been able to stand out and make its own identity. Today Nepal is known for its mountains, but there is more to know about Nepal. Yes, Nepal is rich naturally and culturally which has made the country beautiful but we should not forget the people of Nepal of today and past, who are the real ones to make Nepal great. Nepal has many things to offer the visitor, both man-made and natural. Nepal, home to Mount Everest, is dominated by the world`s largest mountains. Among the ten largest mountains, eight are in Nepal. Nepal is one of the best places in the world for trekking. Rafting in the rivers is also very popular. Spectacular works of art and architechture can be seen in the temples and palaces of Nepal. Nepal is also the birthplace of Lord Buddha. One of the largest Buddist stupas, Swayambhunath, is also in Nepal. Nepal also boasts of introducing pagoda style of houses in China and Japan. Nepal is the only Hindu kingdom in the world. Still there are other religions like Christianity, Buddhism, Islam coexisting amicably in the country. Nepalese culture has a long history of about 2000 years. There are countless festivals celebrated all round the year. Among which Dashain, Tihar, Teej, Holi are are some important ones. Nepal has retained its sovereignty since its origin and never been under any foreign power. Nepalese people regard their guests as gods. It is part of our culture to respect guests. Nepal contains an amazing mixture of ethnic and racial groups. In the streets of Nepal, you can see people who resemble Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Arab, Greek or Latin Americans but who are actually all Nepalese. There is a feeling of brotherhood in all Nepalese. Nepalese people are therefore friendly by nature. Nepal may not be richest or technologically advanced, but Nepalese people are pure at hearts and have the feeling of humanity. You may be Japanese, Chinese or from any other country, but first of all we all are human. Human feelings are what makes one great. So, I can say proudly that Nepal is Beautiful and Nepal is Great.
